Parvez Elahi

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to initiate an audit of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s family milk factory, with planned actions to be taken at both the Lahore and Kasur offices of the said facility.

The audit, to be conducted under Section 38 of the Sales Tax Act, signifies a comprehensive examination of the factory’s financial records.

During the audit process, FBR officials said, the authority will seize and retain any necessary materials, as deemed essential during the investigation.

According to sources, the records to be obtained will be meticulously coordinated with tax authorities to ensure a thorough examination of the milk factory’s financial transactions.

Some sources suggested that the factory is part of a money laundering case against Moonis Elahi and his relatives. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has frozen the properties and bank accounts of Moonis Elahi, his wife, his brother Rasikh Elahi, his sister-in-law and others implicated in the case. The NAB has also initiated an inquiry against Moonis Elahi over allegations of possessing assets beyond his known sources of income.

The court has ordered the freezing of land worth Rs10 billion and 22 bank accounts of Rasikh Elahi, his daughter-in-law and others implicated in the money laundering case. The court also ordered the freezing of the properties and bank accounts of Moonis Elahi’s wife as well as Chaudhry brothers’ front men Qaiser Bhatti and Abid Bhatti. All these properties and bank accounts will remain frozen until the completion of the money laundering investigation against all the accused.
