ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the revenue target of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the fiscal year 2025-26 has crossed Rs13 trillion for the national treasury.
The finance minister congratulated the FBR on achieving the revenue target, exceeding Rs12.83 trillion for FY-2025–26, saying such a milestone had never been achieved in such a short time before.
The minister said the fiscal year was completed successfully, with the fiscal deficit at its lowest level. He added that the achievement reflects teamwork, continuous reforms, and the hard work of the FBR.
Muhammad Aurangzeb said that Pakistan’s tax collection has nearly doubled over the past two and a half years, adding that improved revenue performance has helped reduce the fiscal deficit and strengthen the country’s economic base.
Aurangzeb also said that the FBR issued Rs599 billion in tax refunds during the fiscal year, including a record Rs13.5 billion on the final day.
He said improving taxpayer facilitation, ensuring transparency, and building public trust remain key priorities of the tax system.
The senator also added that the FBR is being transformed into a modern institution through the use of artificial intelligence and digital systems.
