PESHAWAR: Authorities have confirmed that the three suicide bombers involved in the November 24 attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Peshawar were Afghan nationals, according to investigators citing records verified by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Officials say NADRA has not yet received additional background information on the assailants, and further identification efforts are ongoing.
More than 100 suspects have been questioned as part of the expanding investigation. Security officials report that they have obtained video footage showing the attackers moving from the Rehman Baba graveyard toward the FC headquarters shortly before the blasts. Investigators are now intensifying their search for the facilitators who aided the attackers, noting that none of the bombers carried mobile phones on the day of the incident, a detail authorities believe was an attempt to avoid digital tracking.
The suicide attack on November 24 resulted in the martyrdom of three FC personnel and injuries to 10 others. All three attackers were killed during the incident.
STOLEN MOTORCYCLE TRACED TO RAWALPINDI
Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police revealed that the motorcycle used in the attack had been reported stolen in Rawalpindi. An FIR had previously been registered with the local police station, and investigators have now confirmed that the same vehicle was used to transport the attackers.
Several suspects linked to the motorcycle theft and the broader plot have been taken into custody. Their interrogation is underway as agencies gather further evidence and work to trace the network that facilitated the attack.
Security sources say the identification of the terrorists marks a significant step forward in the investigation, though authorities caution that substantial work remains to uncover the full extent of the support structure behind the assault.
