ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad College for Girls (ICG), F-6/2, has officially launched its highly anticipated two-week Summer Fiesta 2026, offering students a dynamic platform to develop technical, creative, and vocational skills.

Organised under the umbrella of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), the opening ceremony drew senior officials from the Ministry of Federal Education, diplomats, renowned educationists, and enthusiastic parents.

Federal Education Secretary Nadeem Mehboob praised the initiative, emphasising its role in pushing learning boundaries.

“The fiesta is designed to encourage learning beyond the classroom by combining education with fun and creativity,” Mehboob said.

“Through interactive sessions and hands-on experiences, students can explore new talents, build confidence, and enhance their abilities.”

FDE Director-General Javed Iqbal Mirza echoed these sentiments, highlighting that skill-based workshops are essential for cultivating modern leadership qualities. “Investing in education is investing in a brighter future,” Mirza remarked.

“Initiatives like the Summer Fiesta provide a positive environment where students can learn, grow, and prepare for the opportunities of a rapidly changing world.”

During the launch event, students captivated the audience with a colorful medley of regional songs and a high-energy Taekwondo demonstration.

Attendees also toured classrooms and specialised activity stalls, praising the students’ ingenuity and dedication.

The two-week programme features a diverse range of specialised tracks designed to cater to different interests.

Under the tech & innovation category, students can take part in courses such as coding and robotics, digital creativity, and coding with scratch.

The creative arts and crafts segment includes creative arts, design lab, pottery, fabric painting, and art and design.

In the vocational and culinary stream, participants are offered fashion couture, creative embellishment, and professional culinary arts.

The life skills and fitness category features communication skills and taekwondo, providing a mix of personal development and physical training options.
