Federal govt announces office timings for Ramadan

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Wednesday issued a notification adjusting office hours for the holy month of Ramadan.
Federal offices operating five days a week will be open from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Thursday, the notification said.
Offices with six working days will operate from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays, all federal offices will remain open from 9am. to 12:30pm.
Separately, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and zonal committees have convened in Peshwar, Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi for moon-sighting.
The zonal committee in Islamabad has been convened at the Ministry of Religious Affairs to determine the start of Ramadan.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been convened in Peshwar and the committee includes members from the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The zonal committees will gather moon-sighting reports and forward them to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which will make the final announcement. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman will formally declare the start of Ramadan after reviewing the testimonies
