LAHORE: A female officer of Punjab Police, Dr Hafiza Farah Asghar, has completed her PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University of the Punjab.
Asghar is an intelligence officer posted at Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), and she has completed her degree while continuing to serve her department with dedication.
On Friday, Dr. Farah Asghar visited the Central Police Office in Lahore alongside her parents, where she was warmly received by Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar. “Capable officers and personnel like Farah Asghar are the pride of Punjab Police,” said IG Punjab Anwar, adding, “Her achievement is not just personal; it reflects the strength and potential within our ranks.”
Dr Asghar’s academic journey was not without its challenges. Working in a high-pressure environment while pursuing a doctorate required resolve, resilience, and a deep sense of purpose. Speaking on the occasion, she credited her success to the unwavering support of her parents, the encouragement of her senior officers, and the camaraderie of her colleagues.
“It was not easy, but I was never alone. My parents believed in me every step of the way. My superiors never saw my ambition as a distraction from duty. Instead, they empowered me to chase it,” Dr Asghar said.
As she continues her role in intelligence and public safety, Dr Asghar’s expertise in microbiology and genetics could also open new doors for cross-disciplinary work, especially in areas related to biosecurity, forensic science, and public health surveillance.
