FG Polo lifts historic Aibak Cup

LAHORE: FG Polo clinched the Aibak Cup title with a commanding performance against Diamond Pants in the final held at Lahore Polo Club, showcasing skill, strategy, and flair in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd.

The final, played under the vibrant colours of Basant, drew polo fans from across Lahore. Among the spectators was Pakistan’s acting US ambassador Natalie A Baker, who, alongside other American officials, witnessed the thrilling contest and praised the players’ performance and the event’s spirited atmosphere.

The clash between FG Polo and Diamond Pants was fiercely contested throughout. Raja Mikail Sami scored four goals for FG Polo, while Marcos Revulva added three to secure the victory. Diamond Pants fought valiantly, with Abi Linda scoring three goals and Mohammad Ali Malik adding one.

Earlier, in the third-place playoff, BN Polo edged out SQC Gold Polo 8-6 to claim the final podium spot.

At the closing ceremony, awards were handed out to the tournament’s top performers. The Best Horse award went to Mostaza, owned by Mian Abbas Mukhtar. Marcos Revulva was named the Best Player of the Final, while Raja Mikail Sami claimed the tournament’s top scorer accolade.

The Aibak Cup, hosted by Lahore Polo Club, marked a highlight in Pakistan’s polo calendar, blending competitive spirit with the festival cheer of Basant and drawing both local and international spectators.
