FIA dismisses 88 officers, penalises others for corruption and misconduct

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken disciplinary action against 271 officers involved in corruption, violations of discipline and abuse of authority.
According to a statement issued by the FIA, under the directives of Director General (DG) Rafat Mukhtar Raja, an internal accountability process is ongoing within the agency.
It said that the Directorate of Internal Accountability imposed penalties on 271 personnel during 2025.
The statement said that 88 officers and staff were dismissed from service for corruption, disciplinary violations, and abuse of authority, including two deputy directors, six assistant directors, 13 inspectors, and 20 sub-inspectors.
Other dismissed personnel included 5 ASIs, 13 head constables, 20 constables, and 9 ministerial staff members.
It was further stated that during 2025, 1 ASI, 2 constables, and 2 ministerial staff were also dismissed, while 10 personnel faced demotions.
Similarly, penalties of demotion were imposed on 1 deputy director, 2 assistant directors, 2 inspectors, 1 sub-inspector, 3 head constables, and 1 constable, while 168 officers and staff were stopped from promotions or given minor penalties.
DG FIA Rafat Mukhtar Raja said the aim of departmental accountability is to strictly enforce legal and professional standards, and that any form of corruption or misuse of authority will not be tolerated.
He added that there is no place in the FIA for officers involved in corruption, negligence, or flawed investigations, and that the agency is undergoing a strict accountability drive to eliminate corruption and “black sheep”.
Rafat Mukhtar Raja said strict measures are being taken against personnel involved in illegal activities, and that only through accountability can human trafficking and corruption be eradicated, with negligent officers being appropriately punished.
