FIA Gilgit arrests two for blackmailing girl on social media

GILGIT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle in Gilgit has arrested two key suspects allegedly involved in blackmailing a minor girl by disseminating inappropriate videos through a fake Instagram account.

The accused identified as Latif Ali and Junaid Faraz were apprehended in the Yasin Tehsil of district Ghizer.

According to FIA officials, the suspects had been using the fake Instagram account to blackmail the victim and circulate her videos on social media.

The suspects have been charged under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and Sections 506 and 509 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), Section 506 pertains to criminal intimidation, while Section 509 deals with acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman. 

After the completion of the investigation, they have been remanded to judicial custody. The authorities are continuing their search for additional individuals connected to the case.
