FIA takes action against company involved in illegal Hajj, Umrah booking

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take action against companies offering illegal booking of tickets for people going for Hajj and Umrah.

A ministry spokesperson said that the FIA has been directed to take action against a company named “Fifth Pillar Family Takaful Ltd” for its alleged involvement in booking of tickets through fraudulent means.

According to sources, the FIA has already launched an inquiry against the said company.

Meanwhile, the religious ministry has also warned the public against getting tickets from the “Fifth Pillar Family Takaful Ltd”.

The ministry has advised the public to visit its website for authentication of enlisted companies for Hajj and Umrah booking. The ministry’s said that it has also uploaded the list of fraudulent companies on its website.

On December 29, 2023, the religious ministry announced Hajj applicants for 2024. The ministry received a total of 69,438 applications under the government-sponsored Hajj scheme. Of these applicants, 63,805 were selected to perform Hajj.
