Field Marshal Asim Munir hails Pak-China ties at PLA’s 98th anniversary

WEB DESK: The 98th anniversary of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was commemorated at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, with a ceremony highlighting the strength of Pakistan-China strategic relations, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the Chinese dignitaries and extended congratulations to the PLA on its 98th founding anniversary.
The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, who served as the chief guest, along with China’s Defence Attaché and other senior officials from the Chinese embassy. Senior officers from all three branches of Pakistan’s armed forces were also present at the gathering.
In his address, the army chief commended the PLA’s significant contributions to national defence, security, and nation-building, while also reaffirming the importance of long-standing Pakistan-China military cooperation.

He emphasised that the strategic relationship between Pakistan and China is a “model of mutual trust and shared commitment,” adding that the friendship between the two nations has “withstood the test of time.”

“Pakistan and China have jointly faced regional and global challenges, and their bond continues to grow stronger with each passing day,” said Field Marshal Munir.

The ceremony highlighted the enduring nature of Pakistan-China ties, rooted in shared values and mutual support across a broad spectrum of political, security and economic dimensions.
