ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a meeting with the Egyptian Foreign Minister on Monday, during which both sides reviewed bilateral relations between the two “brotherly countries,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.
According to ISPR, discussions focused on defense and security cooperation, military training collaboration, and the broader regional peace and stability environment. Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen coordination in strategic sectors and further deepen their long-standing ties.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister conveyed warm wishes from Egypt’s leadership and expressed a strong interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan across all sectors. The meeting also underscored the importance of sustained high-level engagements, particularly in light of evolving regional security challenges, ISPR added.
The interaction marked another step in ongoing efforts to enhance Pakistan–Egypt relations and promote joint collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
CHIEF OF DEFENCE FORCES NOTIFICATION
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif sought to quell speculation over the appointment of Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) on Sunday, saying the process has been initiated and the notification will be issued at the appropriate time.
Khawaja Asif said that that unnecessary rumours are being circulated regarding the timing of the CDF notification. He also confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to return soon, and key decisions regarding the new post will follow.
