Field Marshal meets Libyan counterpart, reaffirms commitment to strengthening bilateral relations

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal and Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) Asim Munir on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during a meeting with his Libyan counterpart and Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Khalifa Abu-al-Qasim Haftar, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The Libyan commander was accompanied by Libyan Prime Minister Osama Saad Hammad, who also called on the Chief of the Defence Forces at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

According to the ISPR, discussions focused on the prevailing security dynamics in both countries, along with an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest. Both sides agreed to continue engagement and enhance collaboration between the armed forces of Pakistan and Libya through professional and defence cooperation.

During the meeting, the Field Marshal reiterated Pakistan’s support for peace, stability, and institutional development in Libya, aimed at fostering a constructive and stable environment.

Earlier, Commander-in-Chief Khalifa Abu-al-Qasim Haftar paid homage to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the memorial upon his arrival at GHQ, the ISPR added. Haftar was received by CDF Asim Munir at Noor Khan Airbase.
