WEB DESK: An investiture ceremony was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday, where military awards were conferred upon officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army in recognition of their exceptional gallantry during operations and distinguished services to the nation.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, attended the prestigious event as the chief guest, presenting honours to the recipients as well as the families of the fallen heroes (Shuhada), according to Radio Pakistan.
During the ceremony, a total of 50 Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 12 Tamgha-i-Basalat were awarded, with the families of the Shuhada coming forward to receive the posthumous medals on behalf of their loved ones.
Tributes to the nation’s fallen heroes
Addressing the gathering, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir paid rich tribute to the Shuhada and Ghazis (wounded warriors), describing them as the enduring pride of Pakistan.
The Field Marshal emphasised that the peace, security, and sovereignty currently enjoyed by the motherland are a direct result of the supreme sacrifices and unwavering devotion to duty demonstrated by these brave individuals.
He further expressed his profound admiration for the families of the Shuhada, praising their resilience, dignity, and steadfastness in the face of unparalleled personal loss, and reaffirming that their sacrifice remains a sacred trust for every Pakistani citizen.
Unwavering resolve against terrorism
Turning his attention to contemporary security challenges, the Field Marshal commended the operational preparedness and resolute spirit of the Pakistan Army and allied law enforcement agencies.
He lauded their sustained, round-the-clock efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the region. Concluding his address, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir firmly reaffirmed the military’s stance, stating that the counter-terrorism campaign will press ahead with full national resolve until enduring peace, stability, and security are permanently established across the entire country.
