Field Marshal visits South Waziristan to review security, frontline operations

PESHAWAR: Field Marshal Asim Munir on Wednesday visited Wana, South Waziristan, reviewing the prevailing security situation along the western border and assessing the operational preparedness of frontline troops
Upon arrival, he was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar, highlighting the importance of coordination, morale, and synergy among formations along the frontier.
During the visit, the Field Marshal was given a comprehensive briefing on the security environment, ongoing intelligence-based operations, border management measures, and developments along the Pak–Afghan border, including Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq.
He interacted with officers and troops deployed in forward areas, commending their professionalism, operational vigilance, and high morale during ongoing skirmishes. He lauded their steadfast commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Field Marshal Munir emphasised that the use of Afghan soil by Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan for terrorism against Pakistan is unacceptable and reiterated that all necessary measures would be taken to neutralize cross-border threats. He added that peace along the border is possible only if the Afghan Taliban cease supporting terrorism and terrorist organizations.
The Field Marshal also laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument, offered Fateha, and paid tribute to martyrs who made supreme sacrifices in defence of the motherland, reaffirming that their sacrifices remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security and resilience.
Appreciating the Pakistan Army’s operational readiness, he expressed full confidence in the combat preparedness, coordination, and resilience of formations deployed along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
This visit underscores the Pakistan Army’s commitment to national security, operational excellence, and maintaining stability in a challenging frontier environment.
