ISLAMABAD: FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have called for amendments to the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Constitution, stressing that governance reforms are essential for the long-term stability and development of football in the country.
The recommendations were made during discussions on strengthening the federation’s governance framework, with both international bodies emphasising the need for structural reforms within the PFF.
FIFA Member Associations Governance Head Rolf Tanner said amendments to the PFF Constitution are necessary to ensure long-term stability and effective administration.
He said that the separation of powers remains a fundamental principle of good governance and highlighted that the last major revision of the PFF Constitution was carried out in 2014.
PFF President Mohsen appreciated the call for reform, saying governance changes are crucial for the improvement and growth of football in Pakistan.
He added that further delays in implementing constitutional reforms are no longer an option, underscoring the urgency of modernising the federation’s governance structure.
The proposed amendments are expected to align the PFF with international governance standards and strengthen the institutional framework needed to support the development of football across Pakistan.
