After Karachi, authorities in Hyderabad have also announced a sharp increase in fines for traffic rule violations, according to police officials.
It may sound surprising, but fines for exceeding speed limits have been increased by up to 900 percent.
Under the revised penalties, driving without a valid licence will now cost offenders Rs20,000 instead of Rs2,500. Similarly, motorcyclists caught without helmets will face a fine of Rs5,000, up from the previous Rs500.
Rs25,000 fine for overspeeding
Parking in no-parking zones will now lead to a Rs10,000 fine, compared to the earlier Rs2,000. The penalty for speeding has also been raised significantly from Rs2,500 to Rs25,000.
Those caught violating the one-way rule will now have to pay Rs25,000, while driving a vehicle without number plates will result in a Rs5,000 fine.
Police officials said the new fines have been introduced under the government’s updated traffic regulations to improve road discipline and ensure public safety.
Authorities have urged all citizens to follow traffic rules and act responsibly, calling it an important step towards making Hyderabad’s roads safer for everyone.
