LAHORE: Veteran Pakistani actor Firdous Jamal has once again sparked controversy by making harsh remarks about superstar Mahira Khan’s appearance, referring to her as an “old woman.”
Recently, Firdous Jamal appeared as a guest on a private TV channel’s program, where he was asked about Mahira Khan, one of Pakistan’s leading actresses.
The show’s host questioned Firdous Jamal, saying, “In the past, you mentioned that Mahira Khan looks old and should not be cast as a heroine but rather in motherly roles. However, after your statement, she delivered an outstanding performance in the blockbuster film ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt.’ What would you say about that?”
In response, Firdous Jamal firmly stated, “I still stand by my statement. I merely stated the truth about Mahira Khan’s age—she is an old woman according to her actual age.” He further added, “If people find Mahira Khan beautiful, that’s not my fault. Everyone has their perspective, but in my view, she is not beautiful.”

The host pointed out that 90 per cent of Pakistanis find Mahira Khan beautiful, to which Firdous retorted, “If 90 percent of people are fools, that’s not my fault. Should I also become a fool like them?”
Firdous Jamal explained that he compares acting by looking at actresses like Elizabeth Taylor, and everyone has their own perspective. “I have my own perspective on acting and beauty, and I view things according to my own thinking and ideology,” he said.
He concluded by stating, “I stood by my statement about beauty before, I stand by it today, and I always will.”
It is worth mentioning that in 2019, Firdous Jamal made a statement saying, “If anyone is offended by my words, I apologize, but I don’t think Mahira Khan should be playing the role of heroine anymore. She could be a model, but she is neither a good actress nor a heroine.”
While commenting on Mahira Khan’s age, Firdous Jamal had said that “Mahira is too old now, and at this age, actresses don’t play heroines; they play mothers.”
