Karachi chemical factory fire brought under control; cooling process begins

KARACHI: A fire broke out at a chemical factory in Karachi’s SITE Industrial Area, prompting an immediate response from the city’s fire services.

According to Fire Brigade officials, two fire brigade vehicles were initially dispatched to the scene. As the situation escalated, an additional four vehicles were sent, bringing the total to six fire brigade units actively combating the blaze.

Later, two more fire tenders, two bowsers and two snorkels were called as well, Chief Fire Brigade Humayun Khan said, adding that a total of 14 vehicles including snorkels, bowsers and tenders were present at the scene.

The fire was eventually brought under control, except some some minor flames.

No casualties were reported as a result of the fire, Humayun Khan said, adding that the cooling process will continue until the blaze is fully extinguished.

Officials managed to control the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby industrial units. Rangers personnel were also called to assist in the fire fighting operation. Sindh Rangers spokesperson said that their top priority is to protect human lives and prevent the fire from spreading further.
