Five children among seven killed as tuition centre roof collapses in Hafizabad

HAFIZABAD: At least seven people, including five children and a female teacher, were killed when the roof of a tuition centre collapsed in Pindi Bhattian tehsil of Punjab’s Hafizabad district on Saturday.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the incident occurred in Mohalla Farooq-e-Azam of Sukheke Mandi, where a woman and her son were teaching children tuition when the roof suddenly caved in.
Several students and the teacher were trapped under the debris. Rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured and bodies to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
Police said that the deceased included the female teacher, her son, and five children who had come to attend the tuition classes.
Six family members killed as roof collapses in Khyber district
District Police Officer (DPO) Hafizabad Atif Nazir reached the site and directed that no effort be spared in removing the rubble and providing immediate medical assistance to the injured.
Rescue officials said that three children initially died on the spot, while others succumbed to their injuries during treatment, raising the death toll to seven.
The deceased were identified as 60-year-old Sarwar Bibi, her son, and other children aged between 4 and 9, including Abdul Rehman, Umar, Rohhan, and Rehan.
