Five police personnel killed as vehicle plunges into deep ravine in Bagh

BAGH: At least five police personnel were killed in the Bagh district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir after a van en route from Toli Peer to Lasdana plunged into a deep ravine.

According to the Bagh Police Control Room, five police personnel were martyred in the incident.

Police officials said the accident took place in a remote area and they were facing problems in rescue operation due to darkness.

According to the police, rescue teams were dispatched immediately after the incident was reported.

According to Bagh police, the number of martyred personnel stands at five. However, it was too early to comment on other passengers who may had been in the vehicle.

According to the police, the exact number of occupants was still being verified. Police said an investigation into the accident had been launched.

Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq expressed grief and sorrow over the death of the five police personnel in the traffic accident near Lasdana-Toli Peer crossing.

On his special directive, the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police reached the site and to ensure timely execution of rescue operations.
