JALALPUR PIRWALA: The M5 Motorway near Jalalpur Pirwala is facing a serious flood threat, prompting authorities to close parts of the route for the safety of road users. Motorway Police, acting on orders from the National Highway Authority (NHA), have implemented traffic diversions while emergency measures are taken to prevent flood damage to the road.

The closure is currently affecting both northbound and southbound lanes. Northbound traffic is being redirected from the Uch Sharif, Jhangra, and Jalalpur Interchanges, while southbound vehicles are being diverted via Shah Shams, Sher Shah, and Shujaabad South.

In addition to the diversions, NHA workers are working quickly to place sandbags and stones along the affected areas to prevent floodwaters from reaching the motorway.

Motorway Police have been deployed at key points along the diversions to assist drivers and ensure safe passage through alternative routes. SP of the Motorway Police, Syed Imran Ahmed, confirmed the presence of additional personnel to manage the situation.

“As part of our efforts to safeguard the public and prevent accidents, we’re closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that traffic is rerouted effectively,” said Ahmed. Motorists are advised to follow police instructions and stay alert for further updates on road conditions.
