PESHAWAR: Former deputy speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Jan was arrested from the courtroom in connection with a murder case after his interim bail was rejected.

The case, which involves allegations of murder, took a dramatic twist as the court rejected Mehmood Jan’s request for interim bail, resulting in his immediate arrest.

The PTI leader has been facing charges of killing a man over a property dispute. The case had been filed against Mehmood Jan at the Regi Police Station.

Seeking to evade arrest, Mehmood Jan had applied for interim bail, but his request was turned down by the court.

Anti-terrorism court judge Jehanzib Shinwari, who presided over the case, rejected the former deputy speaker’s bail plea, leading to his arrest right from the courtroom.

Mehmood Jan is considered a prominent figure in the PTI.

The case has yet to unfold, and the arrest of such a high-profile politician has added intensity to the ongoing investigation.
