Former MMA champion Mark Coleman hospitalised

TOLEDO: Retired Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Mark Coleman was hospitalised on Tuesday after rescuing his parents from a house fire in Toledo, located in the state of Ohio, United States (US).
Sources reported that the former fighter sustained injuries while trying to save his parents and a pet from the blaze. Although his parents were safely evacuated, the family’s pet dog did not survive the fire.
As per sources, health officials airlifted the former mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter to a nearby hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

Coleman is currently intubated and undergoing treatment.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Coleman was active in MMA from 1996 until 2010 before transitioning to professional wrestling. He won the UFC 10 and UFC 11 tournaments in the heavyweight category.

The MMA fighter was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2008 and is regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight fighters in the sport’s history.
