Four dead, five injured in explosion at Hyderabad fireworks factory

HYDERABAD: At least four workers were killed and five others injured after an explosion at an illegal fireworks manufacturing factory in Latifabad No 10, Hyderabad, which also sparked a fire, officials said.
According to sources, the factory was located in the residential area of Latifabad Unit No 10, Laghari Goth.
The blast shook the surrounding neighbourhood, before the fire brigade teams rushed to the scene to control the fire. The bodies of the deceased and the injured workers were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and directed to provide immediate and best possible medical care to the injured workers. He also sought a prompt report on the explosion.
The chief minister instructed the Hyderabad commissioner and deputy commissioner to submit a detailed fact-finding report and ordered a full audit of safety measures at the factory.
He further warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the blast and emphasized that any negligence regarding workers’ safety would not be tolerated.
