Four decomposed bodies found in manhole in Karachi

KARACHI: At least four decomposed bodies were recovered from a manhole near Mai Kolachi in Karachi.

DIG South Asad Raza said that the bodies recovered from the manhole included one man, two women and one child.

Asad Raza said the bodies found near Mai Kolachi were 10 to 15 days old. The bodies have been shifted to a hospital for legal formalities, he said.

According to police, rescue officials were informed by area residents about the presence of a body in the manhole.

When the body was retrieved and stones were removed, three more bodies were discovered from the manhole.

Police officials said the cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report.

They said that bricks had been placed in the manhole to conceal the bodies.

Rescue officials have not yet confirmed whether there were signs of torture on the bodies. The investigation team is trying to obtain CCTV footage from the area.

Earlier, two children fell into manholes in Karachi in separate incients.

The recurring manhole maintenance issue in the city has sparked widespread public outrage, with many criticizing authorities for failing to address the problem effectively.
