WEB DESK: Four soldiers were martyred and eleven others injured after militants opened fire on personnel of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) security team near Kot Lalu in Dera Ismail Khan district, according to official sources.
The incident occurred when the Khawarij targeted the Base Camp (BC) and Protection FC PNI post. The attackers managed to flee the scene after the exchange of fire. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the perpetrators.
The injured personnel were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dera Ismail Khan for medical treatment. Official sources confirmed that the bodies of the martyred soldiers will be sent to their native areas with full state honours.
Authorities have intensified security measures in and around the area following the attack, as investigations continue into the group responsible for the assault.
Earlier on Saturday, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday addressed the passing-out parade at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul, calling it a “great honour” and reaffirming Pakistan’s firm commitment and criticising India for “reckless accusations” and politicising terrorism, warning that any aggression against Pakistan would invite a far harsher response. He reminded the cadets that they were heirs of the martyrs, urging them to uphold the nation’s dignity and unity.
He emphasised Pakistan’s role as a stabilising regional power and reaffirmed its commitment to peace, strength, and credible deterrence, declaring, “Not an inch of our sacred land will ever be surrendered.”
