WEB DESK: Security forces killed 14 terrorists belonging to the foreign-sponsored outfit ‘Fitna al Hindustan’ during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched on Monday night in the Naal area of Khuzdar after credible intelligence reports indicated the presence of terrorists planning coordinated attacks on a local police station and financial institutions.

During an intense exchange of fire, one soldier, Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbass, fought gallantly and embraced shahadat (martyrdom), the statement added.

Attack plans thwarted by swift action

The military’s media wing stated that security forces moved swiftly to block the movement of the terrorists after receiving intelligence regarding their “nefarious designs” in the region.

“During the conduct of the operation, the movement of terrorists was effectively checked and engaged by own forces punitively,” the ISPR said. Following a heavy gun battle, 14 terrorists were killed while several others sustained injuries.

Security forces also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the site. Four vehicles being used by the terrorists, alongside multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs), were destroyed on the spot during the operation.

Commitment to ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’

The ISPR stated that a sanitisation operation is currently underway in the surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining terrorists.

The military reiterated its resolve to eliminate terrorism, stating that the relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the national vision “Azm-e-Istehkam” which was recently approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan (NAP) will continue at full pace.

Security forces and law enforcement agencies remain determined to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, the statement concluded.
