ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East have drawn recognition from regional and international partners following the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, briefing him on Pakistan’s continuous mediation initiatives. The Qatari official praised Minister Dar’s constructive role in advancing regional peace, and both leaders agreed to maintain close communication.
Saudi Arabia welcomed the ceasefire through its Foreign Ministry, acknowledging the agreement between Tehran and Washington. The European Union also hailed the development as a significant step, emphasizing that channels for mediation must remain open. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs thanked Minister Dar for Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and discussed the current situation in the region.
French President Emmanuel Macron similarly welcomed the truce, stressing the importance of respecting its terms and suggesting that Lebanon should also be included in the agreement.
These exchanges highlight Pakistan’s central role in bridging communication between key regional and global stakeholders, as the international community monitors the implementation of the ceasefire and its implications for long-term stability in the Middle East.
