Friday weather: cold intensifies, snowfall expected in northern regions

WEB DESK: Cold and dry weather is set to prevail across most parts of the country on Friday, with extremely cold conditions expected in the northern and hilly regions. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies in many areas, while light rain or snowfall is likely at a few locations during the evening and night.
Going region by region, the PMD said that in Islamabad and its surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain cold and partly cloudy throughout the day.
Across Punjab, most districts will experience cold and dry conditions. However, Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas are likely to see cold and partly cloudy to cloudy weather, with chances of light rain or snowfall during the evening or night. Light to moderate fog may develop in the morning hours in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Okara and adjoining areas, potentially affecting visibility.
Sindh is expected to remain cold and dry in most districts, with no significant weather activity forecast.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cold and dry weather will dominate most districts, while hilly areas are likely to experience extremely cold and partly cloudy conditions. Light rain or snowfall is expected at a few places in Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Swat and Kalam during the evening or night. Morning fog may also occur in Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar and surrounding areas.
Balochistan will see cold and partly cloudy to cloudy weather in most districts. Light rain or snowfall is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Chagai, Nokundi, Dalbandin and nearby areas during the evening or night.
Meanwhile, extremely cold and partly cloudy weather is forecast for Kashmir on Friday.
Gilgit-Baltistan is also expected to experience extremely cold and partly cloudy conditions, with a chance of light rain or snowfall at a few places during the evening and night.
