ISLAMABAD: In a move aimed at providing public relief, the Islamabad administration has waived the motorcycle transfer fee for one month, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the exemption is part of the government’s broader relief and subsidy program introduced by the Prime Minister to ease the financial burden on citizens amid rising fuel prices. “The transfer fee has been waived for one month under the public relief and subsidy scheme,” he said.

The Director General of Excise, Arfan Memon, added that Islamabad residents can now transfer ownership of their motorcycles without paying any fees. To facilitate the process, the Excise Department’s office will remain open 24 hours a day. “For the convenience of citizens, additional counters have also been set up to ensure a smooth transfer process,” Memon said.

The measure is expected to assist thousands of motorcycle owners in the capital, particularly as the government rolls out petrol subsidies to help citizens cope with escalating fuel costs. Officials emphasized that the temporary fee waiver is aimed at streamlining administrative procedures and supporting citizens during the implementation of the subsidy program.
