ISLAMABAD: The Gilgit-Baltistan elected Chief Minister Amjad Hussain Advocate has said that the provincial cabinet is expected to be formed within the next two to three days as the new government moves towards completing its setup.
Speaking in the programme “Khabar Aur Tajzia”, the chief minister said consultations over cabinet formation were underway and matters regarding ministries with coalition partners, including the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), had already been settled.
Amjad Hussain said that all political parties were provided an equal environment until election day, adding that the post-election phase proved challenging for his party.
He revealed that he had contacted independent members of the assembly during the government formation process and secured their support.
“Not every member of the assembly can become a minister,” the chief minister said, indicating that only selected members would be included in the cabinet.
He further said that members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) also voted in favour of him during the chief minister’s election.
Amjad Hussain said the position of Governor Gilgit-Baltistan belonged to the PML-N, while the party would continue its role as the opposition in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.
He added that PML-N also holds the position of opposition leader in the assembly.
