GILGIT: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hussan Zareen has achieved another milestone in her distinguished career, assuming the additional charge of Assistant Inspector General (operations), as announced by G-B police through a social media post.
Currently serving as DSP of the Counter Terrorism Department in Gilgit-Baltistan Police, Hussan Zareen, who was promoted to the rank of DSP last year, has been a trailblazer since joining GB Police in 1996 as a sub-inspector.
Her remarkable journey from the Gojal Valley of Hunza to the DSP rank is a tale of resilience and dedication. Zareen’s extensive experience includes two deployments in United Nations Peace missions, a role in the National Highways Authority, and serving as the in-charge of the “foreign nationals security cell.”
G-B police gets first woman AIG
Earlier this month, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tahira Yasub, currently serving as the Commandant of Police Training College Gilgit, assumed the role of AIG in the Gilgit-Baltistan Police Establishment. Yasub, the first woman inspector, DSP, SP, and SSP in the region, was promoted to SSP in 2019, following her historic appointment in 2017 as the first-ever woman Superintendent of Police (SP) in Gilgit-Baltistan, with a posting in Hunza.
SSP Yasub’s educational background in international relations from Karakoram International University has played a crucial role in her representation of Pakistan in UN peacekeeping missions. Her international exposure includes a significant 14-month tenure in Sudan, where she trained local and UN police, returning to Pakistan in 2012.
