RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) cleared more than 20,000 tonnes of garbage from Rawalpindi city and its tehsils during a 20-day-long cleanliness drive from October 31 to November 20.
As outlined by an RWMC spokesperson, the campaign involved disseminating the message of cleanliness directly to households.
Simultaneously, the distribution of hundreds of pamphlets and the display of banners were employed to raise awareness among the residents.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaqat Ali Chatha, Chairman Rawalpindi Waste Management Company Saqib Rafiq, and CEO RWMC Rana Sajid Safdar actively participated in the initiative.
They conducted daily inspections in various Union Councils of the city, engaging with residents to gather feedback and suggestions on the ongoing cleanliness efforts.

It was shared that RWMC initiated a plantation drive by planting saplings at the Liaqat Bagh workshop to counter the threat of smog.
Additionally, the city underwent mechanical washing and sweeping during the night, and the daily cleaning of containers placed within the city limits was ensured.
The RWMC extended its cleaning efforts to Murree, where roads were treated with salt to facilitate smooth traffic flow, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining cleanliness and environmental well-being.
