WEB DESK: A gas leak-triggered explosion at the hostel of Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) in Peshawar on Sunday left three people injured, hospital officials confirmed.

The incident caused panic in the hostel premises, prompting an immediate response from hospital administration and emergency teams.

The injured were shifted to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Centre for urgent medical treatment.

According to a spokesperson for the medical complex, the explosion occurred due to a suspected gas leak inside one of the hostel rooms.

Rescue and hospital staff reached the site shortly after the incident and ensured that the injured were moved to specialised care without delay.

The condition of the injured has not been officially disclosed, though officials said they were receiving appropriate treatment.

Injured shifted to Burn Centre

The spokesperson said the injured were provided initial medical assistance before being transferred to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Centre for further treatment.

Medical teams remained on alert following the incident, while emergency protocols were activated within the hospital premises.

Authorities also ensured that other residents of the hostel were moved to safer areas as a precautionary measure.

Inquiry initiated into cause of blast

Hospital administration has launched an inquiry to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Preliminary assessments suggest a gas leakage may have led to the blast, although officials have not ruled out other possibilities.

A detailed inspection of the affected room and adjoining hostel areas is underway to assess structural safety and prevent any further incidents.

Hospital management has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of patients, staff and residents within the facility.
