Gaza Peace Board meeting: Pakistan stands firm on Palestine issue

Pakistan has once again reaffirmed its clear and consistent stance on Palestine during a key meeting of the Gaza Peace Board, emphasising unity, humanitarian support, and a principled diplomatic position.

Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said Pakistan’s participation in the forum is aimed at supporting the people of Palestine and safeguarding their interests at an important international platform.

He подчеркed that the position of the Pakistani state and its people on Palestine remains united, warning that attempts by certain elements to create divisions on the issue are politically motivated and do not reflect national consensus.

Ashrafi stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir have consistently represented the voice of the Muslim Ummah on Palestine, expressing hope that Pakistan’s leadership will once again strongly present its stance at the forum.

Reiterating Pakistan’s position, he said the country fully supports the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, along with an immediate ceasefire, reconstruction of Gaza, and an end to Israeli aggression.

He made it clear that Pakistan’s participation in the United Nations-backed ceasefire and reconstruction framework does not signal any policy shift. Pakistan has, since its creation, supported the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and has not recognised Israel, a policy that remains unchanged.

The Gaza Peace Board is a multilateral initiative involving several Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Indonesia.

Ashrafi stressed that participation in such forums should not be confused with diplomatic normalisation, but rather seen as a responsible step to ensure Palestinian interests are protected during critical decisions on ceasefire and reconstruction.

He concluded by reaffirming that Pakistan’s historic stance remains firm, full support for Palestine, along with an active and practical role in international efforts aimed at securing peace and justice for the Palestinian people.
