Gen Faiz Hameed

ISLAMABAD: Former Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, is alleged to have interfered in the 2024 elections, according to credible sources who spoke to the Hum Investigation Team on Thursday.

Official sources claimed that Faiz Hameed attempted to influence the operations of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) during the polls.

It is reported that Hameed contacted the then secretary of the election commission multiple times, allegedly seeking to assist certain candidates with electoral issues.

Some of these candidates were said to have close ties with him. Additionally, sources claimed that Lt-Gen Hameed also attempted to interfere with election tribunals and committees.

In response to these actions, the election commission reportedly informed the relevant authorities about Hameed’s involvement during and after the elections. Sources further disclosed that Lt-Gen Hameed sought to secure electoral support for his native constituency and for a number of his close associates.

The alleged interference is said to have occurred between January and March 2024, with evidence of these actions provided to the concerned bodies.

Currently, Faiz Hameed is facing a court-martial on charges of violating the Army Act.

While both the election commission and representatives of Faiz Hameed confirmed the developments to Hum News, they declined to provide further comment or detailed explanations.
