Get your dancing shoes ready: Ali Zafar unveils name of PSL anthem

ISLAMABAD: Famous singer Ali Zafar has revealed the name of the anthem for the ninth season of Pakistan Super League (PSL), which he has composed.

The PSL 2024 festival is set to kick off in a few days, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is busy preparing for the event. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of this season’s anthem, which is expected to be a hit.

Ali Zafar took to social networking website X to share the details of the PSL anthem. He retweeted the post from the official X account of Pakistan Super League, which included a teaser of the anthem’s tune. He also wrote on the post, “When the competition is tough, play openly”.

The singer explained that the PSL anthem, titled ‘Khul Ke Khel’, is about playing and living fearlessly. He urged cricket fans to get their dancing shoes ready because the anthem is coming soon.

Previously, in a captivating teaser, the PSL account showcased Zafar immersed in an instrumental rendition of his previous PSL anthem, teasing fans with the caption, “Seeti tou bajay ge” (The whistle will sound). The post hinted at the escalating excitement surrounding the release of the official PSL anthem for 2024. 

Responding to the anticipation, Zafar assured his eager fan base, stating, “Bilkul bajay gi. Aur stage bhee phir se sajjay ga!” (It definitely will, and the stage will be set once again.) Enthusiasts have since been on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the launch of Zafar’s much-awaited anthem, promising a spectacular musical experience for PSL 2024.

Ever since Zafar’s last collaboration with the PSL, his ardent fans have complained every year about PSL anthems not living up to the hype created by Zafar’s take on the sport. While many renditions have also been appreciated, the release of the anthem is always a highly driven digital event, with netizens rushing to provide critique, share appreciation, or make memes.

When is PSL 2024?

The PSL 2024 will start on February 17 and end on March 8, with 25 matches across Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi. The first match will be between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
