GILGIT: DRO preparations for general elections in Chilas completed

The District Returning Officer has said that preparations for the general elections in Chilas have been completed.
According to the DRO, a total of 173 polling stations have been established across four constituencies in the district, which include 68 male polling stations, 67 female polling stations, and 38 combined polling stations.
The DRO said that 381 polling booths have also been set up across the district to make sure election flow goes uninterrupted.
It added that total number of registered voters in the district is around 160,000, adding that all administrative bodies, police, and law enforcement agencies will remain on high alert.
GB Scouts, police, Rangers, and additional police personnel have also been deployed for election duty.
The process of transferring polling staff and distributing election material is continuing at a fast pace.
Some teams have already been dispatched, while the remaining teams will be moved within the next two hours, according to the DRO.
Polling will begin at 8.00AM tomorrow and continue uninterrupted until 5.00PM.
