ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: A girl who went missing from Islamabad at the age of 10 has been reunited with her parents 17 years later, the Edhi Foundation confirmed.
According to Edhi Foundation, Kiran’s information was matched through Punjab Safe City data, and she was finally traced in Karachi.
She was handed over to her father after her details matched the Safe City records, the Edhi Foundation said.
Kiran told authorities that she had gone out to buy ice cream when she lost her way and was later taken to the Edhi Centre in Islamabad by an unknown person.
Speaking about her ordeal, Kiran said that her time at the Edhi Foundation had been pleasant, but meeting her parents again was “the most important moment” of her life.
Shabana Faisal, in-charge of the Edhi Centre, said that multiple attempts were made to trace Kiran’s family earlier, but no progress was achieved.
However, she said, in recent weeks, 12 missing children from different parts of the country, including five girls from Karachi, have been reunited with their families.
The news of Kiran’s reunion has left a strong impact on social media, with many praising the tireless efforts of the Edhi Foundation.
