peshawar board matric results 2025 toppers

PESHAWAR: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar announced Monday the results of the 2025 annual examinations for 9th and 10th grades, with female students from private schools bagging the top positions.

Notably, public sector schools have once again failed to make their mark in the matriculation exams held under the BISE Peshawar despite the enormous annual spending by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on education.

Position holders

In the science group of matric results, students from private institutions secured all three top positions.

Fatima Jugnu of Peshawar Model School (Girls Branch 2) clinched the top position with 1,180 marks.

Sarah Imran from the same institution secured second place with 1,178 marks, while Shumaila and Aina Shoaib —  both from Peshawar Model School (Girls Branch Dalazak Road) — jointly bagged the third position with 1,176 marks.

In the arts group, students from private schools also claimed two of the top three positions, further highlighting the gap between government and private educational institutions.

Pass percentage

According to the results announced by BISE Peshawar, a total of 191,589 candidates appeared in the matric exams this year. Of these, 76,484 passed while 14,530 failed, with an overall pass percentage of 83.5 per cent.

‘KP’s education system ahead of Punjab, Sindh’

A formal prize distribution ceremony was held at the Peshawar board office where provincial minister for elementary and secondary education, Faisal Khan Tarakai, was the chief guest.

Addressing the event, Minister Tarakai said the government would further improve exam halls in the future and address the shortage of centres in merged districts. “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s education system is ahead of Punjab and Sindh,” he claimed, noting that Rs364 billion had been allocated for education in the province.

He congratulated students, teachers, and parents for their hard work and praised the board’s transparent conduct of the exams. He also thanked the district administration, media, and security personnel for their support during the process.

Tarakai said examinations were conducted across 300 centres in the province. “Unlike the past, this time students from government schools in Swat and Abbottabad boards also secured top positions,” he added.

He also announced that cash prizes for position-holders had been doubled and emphasised that no compromise would be made on the quality of education. He added that memorandums of understanding had been signed with Cambridge University for collaboration in education reforms.

Board chairman Riaz Mehsud said CCTV cameras, surprise visits, and strict enforcement of rules helped ensure transparency and eliminate cheating. He said many private institutions involved in facilitating cheating had been penalised, with their registrations cancelled.

At the end of the ceremony, shields and cash awards were distributed among the top-performing students.

Secretary Education Mohammad Khalid, Peshawar Commissioner and Board Chairman Riaz Khan Mehsud, Controller of Examinations Inamullah Shah, Board Secretary Mehdi Jan, along with teachers and parents, attended the ceremony.
