Gold price in Pakistan falls as international prices dip

KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan fell by Rs800 per tola on Tuesday, bringing the price down to Rs465,336, according to rates issued by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).
The decline tracked a pullback in international bullion markets, where spot gold slipped $8 to $4,428 per ounce.
It’s the second straight day of losses for local gold buyers prices dropped Rs1,800 per tola on Monday alone, meaning the metal has shed roughly Rs2,600 per tola in just two trading sessions.

Tuesday’s decline in Pakistan mirrored a softer session in the global bullion market. International spot gold eased to $4,428 per ounce, pulling local rates lower since Pakistan’s gold prices are pegged closely to international benchmarks, adjusted for the rupee-dollar exchange rate and a standard import premium currently set at $20.
Gold has been volatile through the last week of August and into September, with local rates swinging by over Rs15,000 per tola in some single sessions as global investors react to signals from the US Federal Reserve and shifting expectations around interest rate policy.
Two-day losing streak

- Tuesday, September 1: Gold per tola fell a further Rs800 to Rs465,336
Combined, buyers are now paying roughly Rs2,600 less per tola than they were at the start of the week a meaningful shift for anyone tracking gold for jewelry purchases, savings, or investment.
Silver rates also slip
Silver followed gold lower, dropping Rs50 to close at Rs7,129 per tola in the local market.
