Gold prices surge in Pakistan as global rates rise

KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan rose sharply on Saturday in line with gains in international markets, with the price of the precious metal climbing by more than 6,000 rupees per tola, according to local market data.
The price of gold per tola in the domestic market increased by Rs6,100 to reach Rs539,862. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold rose by Rs5,230 to Rs462,844.
The increase followed a surge in global bullion markets after a four-day pause. In the international market, gold prices jumped by $61 per ounce to reach $5,171.
Silver prices also moved higher in Pakistan. The price per tola of silver rose by Rs17 to Rs8,931, while the price of 10 grams increased by Rs14 to Rs7,656.
