Gold prices held steady in Pakistani market on Monday, bringing some calm to buyers after a volatile weekend. The All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association reported that the price of one tola stayed at Rs430,662, the same level recorded two days earlier. Rates for 10 grams of gold also showed no movement and were quoted at Rs369,223.
The stability comes after a sharp dip on Saturday when the per tola price fell by Rs9,100 during intraday trading. Despite the slide, the international market did not show any major shift, with global gold holding at $4,083 per ounce along with a premium of $20.
Silver, however, moved in the opposite direction. Its price rose by Rs55 to reach Rs5,368 per tola, reflecting stronger demand among small investors.
Global trends also pointed to a cautious start to the week. Spot gold inched up by 0.1 percent to $4,083.92 per ounce in early Monday trade, while US futures for December delivery slipped slightly to $4,085.30 per ounce. Traders worldwide are waiting for several US economic indicators expected this week, which could offer clues about the Federal Reserve’s stance on interest rates.
For now, jewellers in Pakistan say customers are keeping an eye on both local and international developments as the market waits for a clearer direction.
