The 83rd Golden Globe Awards have wrapped in Beverly Hills, with comedian Nikki Glaser returning as host for the second year in a row. The ceremony aired on CBS and streamed on Paramount+, marking a historic first as the Globes introduced a competitive category for podcasting alongside film and television.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another emerged as one of the night’s biggest success stories, having entered the ceremony with nine nominations across the musical and comedy film categories. On the drama side, Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value followed closely after securing eight nods ahead of the event.
In television, HBO’s The White Lotus led the nominations with six, while Adolescence, which dominated the limited series categories at the Emmys in September, converted its momentum into major wins. Only Murders in the Building and Severance each went into the night with four nominations.
As the final awards were handed out, a clear pattern emerged, with a handful of titles dominating across both film and television.
Major winners of the night
The Pitt won best drama series, while The Studio claimed the award for best musical or comedy series. Adolescence continued its awards-season streak by winning best limited series, anthology series or television motion picture.
Rhea Seehorn won best female actor in a television drama for her performance in Pluribus. Stephen Graham was named best male actor in a limited series or television movie for Adolescence. Jessie Buckley won best female actor in a motion picture drama for Hamnet.
Film categories
Paul Thomas Anderson was named best director for One Battle After Another, underlining the film’s dominance on the night. The director also picked up the award for best screenplay.
Ludwig Göransson won best original score for Sinners, which also secured the cinematic and box office achievement award.
In the animated category, KPop Demon Hunters won best animated motion picture. Brazil’s The Secret Agent took home the prize for best non-English language motion picture.
Timothée Chalamet won best male actor in a musical or comedy film for Marty Supreme, while Michelle Williams was named best female actor in a limited series or television movie for Dying for Sex.
A historic first
The ceremony introduced its first-ever podcast category, with Amy Poehler winning best podcast for Good Hang With Amy Poehler. Speaking backstage, Poehler described the recognition as “very cool” and praised the growing influence of the medium.
With the final awards now announced, the 2026 Golden Globes have firmly established this year’s standout titles. For many of the night’s biggest winners, it truly was one battle after another.
