Gomal University firing: governor Kundi urges independent inquiry

ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi voiced serious concern over the firing incident at Gomal University in Dera Ghazi Khan, calling it deeply troubling for one of the region’s oldest and most respected educational institutions.

The governor urged the provincial government to hold a transparent and impartial investigation to determine the facts and identify those responsible. He also called for an independent commission to look into allegations of excessive force by security personnel.

Kundi said that effective steps are essential to prevent such incidents in the future so that students can continue their education in a safe and peaceful environment.

According to media reports, a security guard at Gomal University allegedly opened fire a day earlier, injuring a student, which sparked strong protests from the students.
