Govinda-Ahuja divorce: actor’s manager clarifies rumours

ISLAMABAD: The internet is rife with rumours that Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja has filed divorce papers and issued a legal notice to the Bollywood actor for separation.

Media reports suggest that Sunita Ahuja had earlier confirmed that the couple had been living in separate homes.

In an earlier interview with Hindi Rush, Sunita Ahuja confirmed that Govinda was living at his bungalow and she and their children were living in a separate apartment.

“We have two houses — our bungalow is just opposite our apartment. I live in the apartment with my children and Govinda stays at the bungalow because he gets home late after meetings and gatherings. He loves talking and socialising, often sitting with 10 people and chatting for hours,” she said.

She teasingly remarked on Govinda’s lack of romantic gestures, saying “I have told him that in my next life, he should not be my husband. He doesn’t take holidays. I love going out, eating street food, and enjoying simple pleasures, but he is always busy with work. I don’t even recall a single instance when we went out to watch a movie together”.

Amidst all these rumours, Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha dismissed such speculations, saying that such reports were mere attempts to attract public attention.

In an interview with IANS, Sinha claimed that no formal papers have been filed for a divorce by either side. “Right now, the news is being spread all over the place, so we are keeping an eye on it. Yes, she has sent a legal notice to the court. I am aware of that, but there is no concrete information regarding its contents. The legal notice hasn’t yet reached us,” he said.

Sinha, however, confessed said that Sunita had been involved in activities that fueled public curiosity about Govinda recently. He said, “You must have seen that something or the other has been coming up. This or that. Sunita ji has said something or other about Govinda ji. She said she taught him acting or dance,”

Talking about the couple living separately, he said though Govinda mostly stays at his bungalow and Sunita at her apartment, it did not mean that the couple had a strained relationship. Sinha said that Govinda and Sunita handle personal matters privately. He said that Govinda was an exclusive individual who remained committed to his family and others.

A source close to the family told ETimes, “Sunita had sent a separation notice a few months ago, but there had been no progress since then.
