Govt begins layoffs of daily wage employees under right-sizing plan

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to lay off daily wage employees under its right-sizing plan and has already begun the process.

The Establishment Division has transferred the services of daily wage employees to the surplus pool, effective from September 30, 2024, according to an official notification.

In the notification, the Establishment Division stated that, in line with the right-sizing policy as per government guidelines, all daily wage employees have been informed that their services will no longer be required after September 30, 2024.

Sources in the Ministry of Finance said that other ministries and divisions will also lay off their daily wage employees and issue similar notifications.
