ISLAMABAD: The government has reduced the price of domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders by Rs45.62. The new rates, effective from June 1, were announced by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) in a recent notification.

This is the second consecutive month that the government has reduced the price of LPG cylinder.

According to OGRA’s notification, the price of an 11.8 kg domestic LPG cylinder has been lowered to Rs2768.23.

Additionally, the price per kilogram of LPG has been reduced by Rs3.86, setting the new rate at Rs234.59 per kg.

In Pakistan, LPG cylinders are used for a variety of purposes, primarily in areas where piped natural gas is unavailable.

LPG cylinders are widely used in households for cooking and heating. They are essential in rural and remote areas where natural gas pipelines do not reach.

Similarly, many small businesses, restaurants, and eateries use LPG cylinders for cooking and heating purposes due to the lack of a reliable natural gas supply.

Certain industries use LPG cylinders for heating processes, cutting, and welding operations, especially where natural gas is not an option.

In agricultural settings, LPG is used for grain drying, heating greenhouses, and other processes that require portable and reliable heat sources.

LPG is also used as an alternative fuel for vehicles, known as autogas, although this is less common compared to its domestic and commercial uses.

Hotels and catering services often rely on LPG cylinders for cooking and heating, particularly in areas without access to natural gas infrastructure.
