ISLAMABAD: Federal government has taken Key decisions to rein in Pakistan Tehreen-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers’ aggressive behaviour inside Parliament.
According to a private TV channel, PTI lawmakers who make derogatory remarks against state institutions will face suspension of membership, while action will also be taken against members who bring the party founder’s pictures into the House.
The Senate chairman and National Assembly speaker are preparing strict measures to ensure the sanctity of the Parliament.
The acting Senate chairman is expected to write to the PTI parliamentary leader on Monday or Tuesday, directing compliance with the House ruling and warning that any undemocratic or unlawful conduct will lead to action.
Acting Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir said PTI’s “shameful conduct” towards the state and institutions was unacceptable. He said his ruling was not political but a clear constitutional requirement. “I will formally write to the PTI parliamentary leader in light of the ruling,” he said.
He added that copies of the letter will also be sent to all parliamentary leaders. “No one will be allowed to attack state institutions or create conflict and chaos.”
The acting chairman said the ruling will be enforced strictly. “We have shown enough restraint. Any future violation will result in suspension, and continued violations may lead to long-term suspension of membership.”
